“I wanted to tell you that I bought your book “Nourishing Hope.” I loved it so much I ordered a second copy for a friend of mine. The night before it came in the mail was really rough as I have been so overwhelmed and confused. I prayed for help and guidance. The next day I received Julie’s book in the mail. It is an amazing resource. It helped to clarify so many things and is so well written. I am already on my second go round of reading it. I know feel like I can have a better understanding of what is going on and how to work with my pediatrician to make a treatment plan. I just want to say thank you for a job well done. I wish every one who cared for a child could read it and understand the importance of properly nourishing our young children!”
I am a parent of a 3.5 yr old with PDD-NOS. At first, we are told that nothing can be done outside of ABA, speech therapy and the like. Then, as I researched it more over the past year plus, the problem becomes exactly the opposite in that there are too many options out there and we have to separate the crazy, unsafe stuff from the valid stuff. Now, I have a solid understanding of mercury (thanks to your book) and the many different forms toxicity can take and the different variables that separate an NT child from an ASD child.
I wanted to just take a moment to thank you for your book. It is the most comprehensive book on autism out there. Not only is it packed full of useful information for parents; it’s so well written and organized!! So many of the books out there written by docs are either too technical, or written more in a train of thought style and they lack advice and just list symptom after symptom. I find myself referring to your book time after time.
I especially found your write-up on the g-alpha protein defect helpful, because my son used to do the sideways gazing and I increased his vitamin A and it hasn’t been an issue since.
I have both Nourishing Hope and Cooking to Heal and just love them. Especially the book, which was just a lifesaver to me when we were first starting on diet changes. I’m finding the webinars really worthwhile too – thank you so much for providing such a wonderful opportunity for mothers like me who so appreciate extra information and guidance. Would you mind if I sent the Phenol link through to a few other mothers here in NZ I know of who have phenol issues but might not be aware of Julie’s work?
I have just started reading your book, Nourishing Hope. I am so excited… there have been a couple books that I found very informative but nothing like this. After purchasing close to 3 dozen books over the past 6 months, I am so thankful that I found out about your book.
I know I should probably read the entire book before asking you this but I know I will want to anyway… do you do one-on-one consultations? I can already tell from what I have read thus far that for once, I would not be wasting my time or money with you!
Thank you so much for writing this book!
What an excellent book – there is so much valuable information. I was just visiting my daughter and she was wondering what kind of pots to replace her Teflon with – the book tells her exactly what to purchase. What a wealth of information. They recently took their daughter to a DAN clinic in Miami – to have this book in their hands as a reference will be beneficial – it explains everything they were told and much more. They have already seen a huge difference in my grand daughter’s behavior and development.
I would like to purchase another book for my other daughter – can I do this through you?
I have your book, “Nourishing Hope”, and am in awe of all the information. I can’t tell you how much hope it gives me in helping my 5 year old son with ADHD.
I was at the DAN conference in Cherry Hill & heard wonderful things about your presentation. I wasn’t able to attend because I was only there for 2 days, but I did order and read your book. I have recommended it to all of my ASD mom friends because I think that it is the most well organized and wonderfully written books I have read (out of many!!!).
Thanks so much!
Dear Ms. Matthews:
Thank you for your excellent work, Nourishing Hope for Autism. Your discussion of the key metabolic enzymes is better than I’ve seen elsewhere.
